Where To Watch 4th Of July Fireworks In Los Angeles

The 4th of July is coming. That means all over L.A., events are popping up and fireworks will be freaking out your dog.

If you’re looking for what to do, where to go and what to see to commemorate America’s birthday, check out the rundown below!

JUNE 29-JULY 1 WEEKEND

SOUTH GATE
June 29 – July 4, times vary by day

Finally, an event that will have a ton of fried food and cotton candy! South Gate is hosting its annual 4th of July Carnival, every day from Friday to Wednesday. There will be rides and games, and fireworks on the 4th at 9 p.m. More info here.

SANTA MONICA
June 30, 4-9:30 p.m.

Boasting the “biggest, most sensational patriotic community event on the Westside,” Santa Monica College’s pre-4th celebration will include picnicking, special exhibits, live entertainment, and a nighttime firework show. There will be plenty of food available for purchase, so don’t worry about packing everything you need. There will also be a food drive, so bring any non-perishable items you have sitting around.More info here.

EL SERENO
June 30, 5-10 p.m.

Also sponsored by Councilmember Jose Huizar, in partnership with El Sereno Bicentennial Committee, the concert and fireworks show will start at 5 p.m., but an Independence Day Parade will start at 10 a.m. The concert will feature Tierra, a Latin R&B band — so expect to be wooed and soothed by nightfall. More info here.

MALIBU
July 1, 8-10 p.m.

Malibu city fireworks will take place over the water, starting after sunset. Sunday isn’t the only night to see fireworks over the water, though. Malibu will set fireworks off in Paradise Cove and Malibu Colony on the 4th as well. More info here.

MANHATTAN BEACH
July 1, 5-7 p.m.

Picnic, concert, and salute to the troops: Manhattan Beach will have it all for two hours. Parking will be tight, so rideshare services and carpooling are encouraged. There will be a marching band, wind ensemble, brass and woodwind quintets, and any other ceremonial music you can imagine. It’s time to get your old time patriotism on! More info here.

REDONDO BEACH
July 1, 2-10 p.m.

Bring beach blankets, umbrellas, chairs, food, and whatever else you need for a day at the beach, full of arts & crafts, music, and swimming. If you don’t feel like packing food, no worries — Ruby’s Diner will be providing a special menu for the occasion. It’ll be a teaser for Redondo Beach’s all-day celebration on the 4th. More info here.

EAGLE ROCK
July 1, 5-10 p.m.

Sponsored by Councilmember Jose Huizar and the Eagle Rock Chamber of Commerce, the 9th annual concert in the park and fireworks show will take place at Eagle Rock Park. The concert will feature the Spazmatics, an ’80s band from Thousand Oaks. The show is picnic style, but don’t bring alcohol, pets, canopies, umbrellas or glass bottles. More info here.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 4

ROSE BOWL
2-9:30 p.m.

To start, there are L.A.’s big annual traditions. The Rose Bowl is hosting its 92nd AmericaFest, which includes a Michael Jackson sing-a-long. You can watch the fireworks from the bowl, and bring picnic blankets — but no big bags allowed.

HOLLYWOOD BOWL
7:30-10 p.m.

The Go-Gos will headline the annual fireworks spectacular, which means you can channel your inner 80’s diva and crimp your hair (finally!). The event will also include performances by the Los Angeles Philharmonic with conductor Thomas Wilkins.

GRAND PARK DTLA
3-10 p.m.

Not all of the major annual events cost money. The 4th of July Block Party at Grand Park is free. Expect lots of live music, games, art activities, and Angelenos picnicking. Parking will be hard to find, as always in DTLA, so you can take Metro’s Red or Purple Lines to Grand Park Station, or take the Gold Line to Little Tokyo.

RESIDENT IN DTLA

Some 4th of July events are smaller, but equally as appealing. For example, a Daft Punk and 4th of July themed brunch at the Hewitt in DTLA. Food will be available throughout and there will be lots of music (and Daft Punk).

MARINA DEL REY
All day

Head to Marina del Rey and start your day with the crowds arriving at noon to spend the day at the beach. Enjoy the typical sites of Marina del Rey, or do some kayaking and paddleboarding. The firework start at 9 p.m. and last 20 minutes.

REDONDO BEACH PIER
All day

Redondo Beach will also be hosting fireworks over the water for free — spend the day at the beach and stay until 9, when fireworks start.
