Roil Seeks to Reinvent the Keyboard

A new take on the traditional keyboard may soon be underway. Music hardware startup company, Roli says their squishy prototype is still in the works. “It’s lots of small improvements that collectively make it into a much, much better product,” Roli CEO Roland Lamb said in a statement. “In a way, this is the product I’ve always wanted to launch. It’s very, very complete.” The Rise 2, the company’s second iteration on the untraditional keyboard includes new internal engineering. With the model upgrades come, a more durable, platinum blue chassis and frets to the keyboard’s playing surface. The keyboard is ideal for musicians with its smooth, continuous playing surface. Those interested in the product can secure their own Seaboard Rise 2 for preorder at Roli.com for $1,399. There will be limited shipping dates and quantities available for this year.

TMobile Officially Phases out Sprint this Week

For those lingering Spring users, T-Mobile has announced its official phase-out of the 3G network. SPrint’s 3G network will proceed to shutdown beginning on March 31. The phase-out will migrate customers over the next 60 days over to the T-Mobile network. In doing so they seek to ensure they are supported and not left without connectivity, and the network will be completely turned off by no later than May 31.” T-Mobile originally planned to phase out the company in January but choose to extend the date through the first quarter. With the merge also comes to the acquisition of Boost Mobile by DIsh. Likewise, at the same time, all companies involved are doing all that they can to ensure the shutdown of Sprint does not negatively impact users of the CDMA network.

YouTube to Roll Out Picture in Picture Mode on iOS

If you have been eager for Picture in Picture mode on YouTube, the time has come…for iOS users. The company announced this week that picture-in-picture mode will arrive on YouTube TV and iOS devices running iOS 15 or newer. With the feature, users will be able to continue watching YouTube TV while navigating away from the app. Likewise, this means, you can be watching a sports game while tweeting about it at the same time. Ingenuity. The feature had already been accessible to Android users so the move is a natural one to target Apple iOS devices. Google said that it’s “still planning to launch PiP for all users without a YouTube Premium subscription in the US” but that “We have no other updates to share at this time.”

Intel’s ARC GPU’s Launch this week on Laptop Devices’

The revolution of Intel’s discrete GPU has finally arrived. This week the company launched its first Arc A-series GPUs for laptops. With its arrival comes support for DirectX12 which allows for dedicated ray-tracing hardware. In addition, the Arc A-series also includes twice the power of Intel’s integrated X2 graphics. This week’s launch only serves as a small preview of what is to come. Those seeking a true gaming device will have to wait for the arrival of the Arc 5 and Arc 7 GPUs- which will offer more graphic cores, ray-tracing units, memory, and power. Likewise, these d’évidés are set to launch later in the year.

Air-Purifying Dyson Zone Headphones Offer Future Tech Glimpse

For its first foray into wearable technology, Dyson has unveiled alike at its Zone Headphones. The device serves as a set of noise-canceling, over-ear headphones that “simultaneously deliver immersive sound to the ears and purified airflow to the nose and mouth.” The company hopes the device will address urban issues of “air quality and noise pollution.” Dyson’s Zone headphones will hit the market this fall with no word on pricing. The company originally applied for the patent on the product in 2018, with a Bloomberg report on the etch in 2020. “Air pollution is a global problem,” says Jake Dyson, chief engineer. “The Dyson Zone purifies the air you breathe on the move. After six years in development, we’re excited to deliver pure air and pure audio, anywhere.”

Google Acquires Raxium, a MicroLED Start-up for Future AR Tech

In AR and MR Tech news, Google has acquired the startup company Raxium. The acquisition of the five-year-old startup will help Google in its AR and MR tech goals. While details of the acquisition are unknown, the company is estimated to be valued at $1 billion. Raxium is dedicated to making MicroLED displays and have made impressive progress in recent years. When it comes to the field of transparent displays, the best choice thus far has been OLED Microdisplays for AR. Likewise, this is all thanks to its high pixel density and lack of need for a backlight. In addition to Google, Apple has also been making its on strides in the world of AR. Both companies join the likes of Microsoft and and Meta in the marketplace of AR and MR tech.

New Emojis Arrive on iOS 15.4

It’s that time of the year again. New emojis have arrived on the most recent iOS update. Rolling out to iPhone users this past week, iOS 15.4 includes several new features. These features include a mask-friendly Face ID, Universal Control and 37 new emojis. The updated Emoji library comes with seven more smileys, along with other very specific objects. In addition, there are a number of new gestures like two hands forming a heart and multiracial handshakes. Users can access the new emojis and iPhone features by updating their phones to the latest iOS version. Here are a few other emojis that are available with the update:

  1. Melting face
  2. Face with open eyes and hand over mouth
  3. Face with eye peeking from behind hands
  4. Saluting half face
  5. Dotted line face
  6. Face with diagonal mouth

New Test Allows Twitter Spaces Host to Share Clips from Recordings

Another new feature will be making its way to Twitter Spaces for host. The current test running on the platform allows host to share a clip of recorded Spaces on their timeline. While the feature can only be accessed by certain host, all iOS users will be able to see and listen to clips. Ina edition, the Clips will remain live on Twitter for 30 days according to company spokesperson Joseph J. Nuñez. Likewise, Twitter will be limiting the use of clips to only Spaces hosts. The company plans to expand Spaces clipping feature to “everyone on Twitter in the near future.” Android users will be able to access the feature on the web soon. YouTube has announced a similar feature will be debuting on its platform soon. This of course comes after Clubhouse announced its own similar feature in September.

New and Improved Dyson Airwrap to Launch this Summer

If you are hoping to purchase a Dyson Airwrap, you may want to wait until this summer. The company has announced that a new version will debut this summer. So what will be different from this version of the Dyson Airwrap? The newest version will be able to curl hair and will include all attachments for the price of $599. If you are wondering what makes the Dyson Airwrap so special, the device relies on the Chanda effect. A method that does not use heat, the Airwrap uses a high-pressure motor to style hair. In addition to the new curl feature, the barrels will come in 30mm, 40mm, 30mm long, 40mm long, and 20mm long variations.

All-electric Macan among the new vehicles in the works by Porsche

Porsche has announced that a new all-electric Macan is in the works. The luxury automaker will aim to have 80 percent of its sales be electric by 2030. In addition, Porsche announced they are also developing its own network of electric vehicle charging stations. The move was made public during the automaker’s annual meeting in which they also stated 718 sports cars that will also go electric. Porsche has a partnership with with Ionity, it’s EV charging provider in a join venture with Ford, BMW and Porsche-parent company Volkswagen. The automakers investment in premium charging stations is meant to boost the company’s EV sales. Likewise, Porsche also has set a 2024 goal for its battery production.

The Hollywood Bowl Summer 2022 Line-Up | Out & About

A major entertainment venue in Southern California and one of the best live music venues in the whole of the USA, the Hollywood Bowl always promises top-notch performances to appeal to diverse tastes. Likewise, summer 2022 is no exception, with an exciting line-up of concerts that span many genres to mark the venue’s 100th year. Book your tickets early to avoid disappointment and start looking forward to the Hollywood Bowl summer schedule.

Get ready for the arrival of summer with The Backstreet Boys: DNA World Tour, which will visit the Hollywood Bowl in early June. Other June concerts include Rod Stewart, Andrea Bocelli, and Halsey, supported by Wolf Alice and Abby Roberts. The acclaimed Mariachi USA features some of the biggest Mariachi bands, including Mariachi Lindas Mexicanas, Mariachi Los Reyes, and Mariachi Divas with vibrant dancing from Mi Tierra Ballet Folklorico and spectacular fireworks. In addition, you can catch the Harry Potter screening for a truly magical evening. Likewise, the screening will be accompanied by the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

The free two-day weekend 101 Festival, in June, will see an array of acts at both the Hollywood Bowl and The Ford, with the line-up still to be announced.

The Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival, scheduled for June 25th and 26th, provides the perfect start to the summer, with a line-up that offers fun for all ages. Hosting some of the biggest names in jazz, day one’s acts include The Roots, Jungle Fire, Cory Wong, Gerald Clayton, and Veronica Swift. July @ The Hollywood Bowl

Kicking off July, the July 4th Fireworks Spectacular is a long-running fixture of the Hollywood Bowl summer events. Taking place this year between the 2nd and 4th of July, features Steve Martin and Martin Short, Jeff Babko, Steep Canyon Rangers, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

On for three days, the all-star cast of the Kinky Boots musical will transport viewers to the magical world of Broadway. Based on the book by Harvey Fierstein with music and lyrics written by popular singer and songwriter Cyndi Lauper, Kinky Boots is a must. Likewise, the show has won the Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Broadway Theatre, AKA the Tony Awards, several times.

The L.A. Philharmonic presents the Music of Leonard Bernstein, while other diverse musical treats throughout July include Ricky Martin with the L.A. Phil, A. R. Rahman, a-Ha, Loggins and Messina, John Fogerty, a rendition of Beethoven’s Fifths and Boyz II Men. A Tribute to Peggy Lee and Frank Sinatra features several special guests.

Enjoy an evening of Wagner at The Valkyries, scheduled for July 17th, and be enchanted by the graceful dancing and soul-stirring music from Dudamel and Paris Opera Ballet.

August @ The Hollywood Bowl

At the height of summer, classical fans are sure to love the Tchaikovsky Spectacular. Likewise, this yearly event features Fireworks under the stars. In addition, you can also enjoy an Evening with Rachmaninoff.

September @ The Hollywood Bowl

Winding down the summer at Hollywood Bowl, Beethoven’s Ninth begins the month. This will be followed by three days of Maestro of the Movies: Celebrating John Williams at 90. With the legendary John Williams, one of Hollywood’s most esteemed composers, and David Newman conducting the L.A. Phil., it’s sure to be a popular event.

From Mozart to jazz, and a fun night of Sing-A-Long Sound of Music, there are plenty of concerts to see! Check out the following:
