Los Angeles March Weekend Events

Cinespia Drive-In at the Greek

When: Until March 12, 2022

Where: The Greek Theatre | Griffith Park

What: “Beverly Hills, what a thrill!” While this weekend’s screening of the hit 90’s classic won’t be in the 90210, you can still get your nostalgia on at the Greek! Join Cinespia for a drive-in showing of Troop Beverly Hills and The Fifth Element this weekend.

First Fridays at the Natural History Museum

When: March 4-July 1, 2022

Where: USC/Exposition Park

What: First Fridays are back at the Natural History Museum. Enjoy Dino’s and DJs every month from March through July at this KCRW-presented evening of music. Every month will offer a different lineup of musical guests and DJs, guided tours, and scientist-led talks.

Phyllida Barlow. Glimpse

When: Until May 8, 2022

Where: Downtown Arts District

What: Art fans of Phyllida Barlow can see the British artist’s work on display at Hauser & Wirth’s courtyard now through May. This site-specific monumental installation is part of an indoor-outdoor presentation of new large-scale works from the sculptor.

Reckoning: A Short Play Festival

When: March 3-6, 2022

Where: The Wallis Annenberg Center for Performing Arts | Beverly Hills 

What: What better way to discover new works from the stage than with a short play festival? Make your way to The Wallis this weekend to see 10 emerging and established writers for this limited engagement performance series.

Selected Shorts: It Takes Two

When: Until May 5, 2022 

Where: The Getty Centre | Westside

What: At this annual celebration of the short story, Hollywood talent comes together to bring classic and contemporary literary works to life. For this year’s theme, there will be a focus on stories of cooperation, unexpected encounters, and competing desires. In addition, actors like Nate Corddry, Helen Hong, Tony Hale, and more will be on hand to recite the work of writers like Anton Chekhov and others. 

Dana Point Festival of Whales

When: March 4-6, 2022

Where: Dana Point

What: It’s that time of the year again! Tax season and also whale migration, but we will focus on the latter. Make your way to Dana Point for the Festival of Whales. This parade and street fair celebrate the annual gray whale migration off the shore in the area. In addition, if you have a boat, you’ll be able to see the stunning mammal movement for yourself.

Dream It, Be It Free Conference for Teen Girls in Simi Valley

Where: Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District Activity Center | Simi Valley

What: For the young women you may know, this weekend’s free conference for Teen Girls in Grades 8 – 12 is a must. Dream It, Be It: Support for Girls gives girls the tools they need to achieve their wellbeing, education, and career goals. The event is sponsored by Soroptimist International of Simi Valley, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting women and girls.

59th Annual Ventura Gem, Mineral, Fossil & Lapidary Show

When: March 5-6, 2022

Where: Seaside Park | Ventura

What: Join Ventura Gem & Mineral Society as they present their 59th Annual Gem, Mineral, Lapidary & Fossil Show at Seaside Park, Ventura County Fairgrounds. The event will be held on Saturday, March 5th (10 am to 5 pm) and Sunday, March 6th (10 am to 4 pm).

Camarillo Fiesta Association Winter Concert Series – Fleetwood Mac Tribute

Whether you’re opting for a bakery bite or something more gourmet like the Wild California Salmon, you’ll be delighted to dine at Republique.

Matū

Location: 239 S Beverly Dr. Suite 100 | Beverly Hills

If you happen to be in search of a new top-tier neighborhood spot, look no further than Matū. The Beverly Hills eatery offers an understated dining room with a compelling menu to tempt your tastebuds. With five courses that offer various cuts of New Zealand-grown wagyu beef from First Light, Matū is a steak haven. The tasting menu changes daily but the grilled ribeye, wood-grilled maitake mushrooms, and iceberg lettuce salad are highlights. 

Merois

From the culinary king, Wolfgang Puck comes a new signature restaurant in Los Angeles. Merois has taken over the stunning penthouse of the Pendry West Hollywood. Take in unfettered views of LA and with Wolfgang’s signature blend of Asian and French cooking with locally sourced ingredients.

Bull & Butterfly

When it comes to great steak and good food, look no further than Bull & Butterfly. The Playa Vista neighborhood spot offers a modern California steakhouse format, with plenty of chops and grilled vegetables. If you’re not in the mood for steak, the local Baja Striped Bass makes for an excellent choice.

Love & Salt

Location: 317 Manhattan Beach Blvd | Manhattan Beach

Bustling and beachy, Love & Salt has much to offer the neighborhood of Manhattan Beach. In addition, the Italian eatery serves up a range of dishes to delight from the sea to the oven. We’re a fan of the Whole Roasted Branzino or Spicy Soppressata for entrees with remembering. 

Fox and Farrow

Location: 1332 Hermosa Avenue | Hermosa Beach

New to the South Bay is Fox and Farrow. The restaurant promises “a Michelin-worthy plate with a speakeasy vibe” from chef Darren Weiss. On the menu, you’ll find tasty appetizers, along with hearty plates of pork ribs, signature salmon, and duck pasta. 

SAN FERNANDO VALLEY

Asanebo

Location: 11941 Ventura Blvd | Studio City

When it comes to impeccable dining destinations in SFV, add Asanebo to your list. The neighborhood spot from sushi chef Tetsuya Nakao offers delectable dishes perfect for lunch or dinner. From the halibut yuzu to the toro carpaccio, we recommend everything they have to offer.

Unwind

Enjoy a revamped version of American bistro-style bites courtesy of Chef Marcel. Unwind in Tarzana specializes in boutique wines and sakes as well as craft cocktails if you seek to unwind with a beverage. In addition, the food at Unwind will certainly do the trick as well!

Larsen’s Steakhouse

With numerous locations across the valley, it’s easy to see why Larsen’s serves as one of the best steakhouses in town. Likewise, the classic Encino chophouse and neighborhood spot has the perfect Prime Dry Aged Filet Mignon that any steak lover will enjoy.

The Grill on the Alley
