Lou received the annual award at the chambers 2019 Golden Oak Awards. Held at the Galpin Motors Club Aston on July 12, the evening recognized individuals who have contributed to Sherman Oaks through various sectors.

Having worked in real estate for over 30 years, Lou was selected for his presence in the industry and the community of Sherman Oaks. This is not the first time Lou has received an honor for his success in real estate. Obsolete

Obsolete’s on-point collection attracts many designers to come find surprise gems inside this small, museum-like design store that specializes in one-of-a kind art, furniture and decorative objects. From  primitive cheese-making bowls, to 18th-century French painter’s easels, an oak refectory convent table from England. Each item is unique, striking and elegant.

Galerie Half

Location: 6911 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90038

Though the gallery itself is rather sparse compared to its competitors, the antiques it houses have a homey vibe. Pieces are mixed in style and range from the 1800s to the 1970s, the space somehow does not feel eclectic so much as curated into one cohesive story. Galerie Half also boasts an impressive list of celebrity fans, Ellen DeGeneres is known to frequent the store to pick up a few midcentury modern pieces with antiquities,, folk art finds, and other design wonders.

Hallworth

Proprietor Jane Hallworth got her start pillaging auction houses as a university student and had the small success of selling some of her first finds to Ralph Lauren. Her showroom in Los Angeles is small and understated, with the feel of someone’s quaint and moody home. Look for Danish furniture from the 1800s, one-of-a-kind light fixtures spanning decades and much more, all at incredibly fair prices.

Amsterdam Modern

This 10,000-square-foot warehouse houses pristine midcentury modern seating and lighting from Holland. Their New Made LA shop in Highland Park, also houses vintage-inspired modern goods all handmade in our city. This furniture warehouse in Echo Park is a playground for midcentury modern buffs looking for furniture and lighting straight from Amsterdam.

Badia Design

Gypset decor aficionados will find all of the Moroccan imports needed to create the globally-inspired abode of their dreams, including carved wood cabinets, decorative mirrors, brass and glass lamps, colorful leather poufs and handmade mosaic tile tables. deKor

Swedish interior designer Isabelle Dahlin’s globally-inspired furnishing boutique has locations in Atwater Village and Ojai.
