In an article this weekend, the Los Angeles Times featured the most expensive homes sold in the last two weeks in Los Angeles.
The newspaper believes the recent transactions in the Bird Street area may signal a takeoff for higher-end homes.
One home featured is 9212 Nightingale Drive. The Doheny Estate, listed by Rodeo Realty agents Ben Bacal and Deanna Smith, was sold for $13.2 million recently. The 5,000-square-foot home on more than half an acre features an open floor plan with beamed ceilings, slate floors and two master suites. Five bedrooms, seven baths, a living and dining room and a chef’s kitchen are all within the house.
Outside, the single-story home has a large entertainer’s patio and an infinity-edge swimming pool.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the property was marketed by Bacal as the site for a 12,000-square-foot home that, when developed, could garner as much as $70 million.

The Fourhundred has unveiled its newest Residence issue for this month, which features Rodeo Realty agent Josh Flagg.
The monthly culture and lifestyle magazine believes the empowerment of the youthful, being through media platforms, is what centrally drives society and they consider the Beverly Hills agent a foolproof example.

Stocks up for the week – Stocks rallied on better than expected Chinese trade data which indicated that the China’s economy may not be hitting the “hard landing” investors has feared. At the same time U.S. manufacturing output unexpectedly dropped in March, as factory output dropped 0.3% in March. This held back the gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed the week at 17,897.46, up from 17,576.96 last week. The S&P 500 closed the week at 2,080.73, up from 2,047.60 last week. The NASDAQ closed Friday at 4,938.72, up from 4,850.69 last week.
Bond yields lower for the week – The 10 year U.S. Treasury bond closed Friday yielding 1.76%, almost unchanged from 1.72% last week. The 30 year U.S. Treasury bond closed Friday yielding 2.56%, unchanged from 2.55% last week. Mortgage rates follow bond yields so we watch bonds carefully.
Mortgage rates remain near three year low -The Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Survey released on April 7, 2016 showed that average mortgage rates from lenders surveyed for the most popular products were as follows: The 30 year fixed average rate was 3.58%. The 15 year fixed average rate was 2.86%. The 5/1 ARM average rate was 2.84%.
On Wednesday, The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals San Fernando held an event that featured women who are making a difference in the real estate industry.
One of the featured guest speakers was Desiree Zuckerman of Rodeo Realty. The Calabasas agent was one of four women chosen to speak at the event.
With more than 20 years in the real estate industry, NAHREP San Fernando believes Zuckerman is a great example of a woman who has worked endless hours and has never given up on her goals.
‘Empowering Women in Real Estate’ was held at the Sheraton Universal Studios. During the event, Zuckerman shared her stories and her journey as a real estate agent. According to the association, this event was put together to help others become the ‘empowered women they were destined to be.’

Farrah Abraham has officially moved to Los Angeles. Rodeo Realty’s Encino agent Amy Klein was the listing agent to the home. The Teen Mom OG star just bought an $845,000 townhouse in Hollywood Hills.
The 24-year-old told PEOPLE at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards on Saturday that she and her daughter Sophia were moving to Los Angeles Monday, something she had mentioned in the Teen Mom OG season finale.
The $845,000 Hollywood Hills townhouse has 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a den, a loft and a 3-car attached garage. The 2,707 sq. ft. home is part of a two-unit complex built in 2011. She will be located centrally to the studios and an easy hop to Hollywood, Universal Studios, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Burbank or Studio City— the center of LA entertainment universe.
Her new purchase has made news in the Los Angeles Times, TMZ and even British tabloid Daily Mail.com.

According to Klein—Saran, who is a licensed real estate agent, arranged for the original showing of the home and was always with Farrah anytime she visited the property.
Amy Klein of Rodeo Realty represented the seller. Abraham was represented by another realtor.
Rodeo Realty’s Beverly Hills agent Joe Babajian has sold a $1.55 million Hollywood Hills West bachelor pad to Australian drummer Chris Cester of rock band Jet.
The one-story house, built in 1951, belonged to guitarist and singer Benji Madden of the rock band Good Charlotte. Madden, 36, who married actress Cameron Diaz last year, bought the property more than three years ago for $1.124 million.
The recently purchased home made news on the Los Angeles Times, Yahoo News and Zillow.
According to the LA Times, Cester, 34, purchased the secluded bungalow for slightly above its $1.495 million asking price.
The 2,183 sq. ft. renovated home has an open floor plan that has an updated kitchen with a breakfast bar, a sitting room, three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Outside, a brick terrace, decks and patios surround the home.
Babajian represented the buyer. Madden was represented by another agent.
A recently sold property by Rodeo Realty agent Allyson Carter is catching some media attention. The real estate agent closed a deal on a legendary home. Both The Real Deal and the Los Angeles Times have featured her listing this week.
KABC’s news anchor David Ono made news of his own when he bought the $2,125,000 home that was listed by Carter. According to the LA Times,The property previously sold three years ago for $1.315 million.

The estate in Toluca Lake belonged to famous jazz trumpeter, Manny Klein, who played with notable 1930s big band leaders including Jimmy Dorsey, Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman. Klein appeared on countless number of recordings and also performed on Hollywood movie soundtracks, most notably “From Here to Eternity.”
Though Klein was not the only famous person to lounge in the estate. It’s rumored that Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra sipped cocktails at the bar in the main house and is where Bing Crosby arranged his famous rendition of “White Christmas.”
The gated mini-estate also belonged to American pop group Karmin. The recently married duo, Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan, is known for their covers of popular songs such as “Super Bass” and “Party Rock Anthem.” The Noonan’s were the sellers to Ono’s newest home. Carter represented the couple in their recent sell.
Ono is now the owner of a 2,378 sq ft main house, an approximately 2,000 sq ft guesthouse, and a town with a bank, store and café façade complete with sidewalks and street lamps.
