Ways To Give Back During The Holidays

Want to give back to your community this holiday season? Here are some ways you can share the holiday cheer:

1. Donate a book
Better With Books provides literature to many kids in need. You can sign up to help them for their holiday book drive that will be taking place on December 23.


2. Host a donation party
Want to give back and help families with babies? You can host a donation party through Baby2Baby, and help them gathers items for infants, kids and families.

3. Buy a gift for people with disabilities
Help people with co-occurring autism, intellectual disabilities and mental health issues. The Hope House for the Multiple Handicapped Inc. residents have filled out a wish list for the holidays. You can help by purchasing their gift and sending it directly to them.


4. Help a rescued pit bull
This year, consider donating to Angel City Pit Bulls. This organization helps rehab pit bulls and find them loving homes.

5. Provide kids with toys
Spark of Love is looking for monetary donations and toys to help kids in need. The Los Angeles Fire Department and ABC7 will help by putting on a toy drive. Give back by dropping off donations at your local fire station.

6. Help sick children from low-income families
Help the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and give back by helping kids whose families are facing financial hardships and who may also be suffering from chronic or acute illness.


7. Toys for Tots
Provide toys to kids whose families can’t otherwise afford them. Take a look at this list for Toy for Tots drop-off locations.

8. Adopt-A-Family for the holidays
Provide a meal and gifts to an entire family. Families Forward Learning Center provides services to low-income people in Pasadena with young children.

 

Sherman Oaks agents give back with Thanksgiving food drive

Brandon Kramer, Ryan Trefry, Kathy Gardner, Brian Gardner, and Jim Wagner decided to hold another food drive this year.

 
“It is our favorite time of year to give back to the less fortunate,” said Trefry.

Through their 5th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, the Sherman Oaks’ agents gathered more than 2,800 pounds of food! Each agent collected from their farming areas which included, Lake Balboa, Sherman Oaks, and Winnetka. All goods went to the Valley Food Bank in Pacoima.


 
“Thank you and your team for all your extra efforts to help families in need –we are thankful for you,” said Director of the Valley Food Bank, William Hernandez.
