Rodeo Realty's Northridge agent Wendy Dern collecting candy for troops

For years, Rodeo Realty’s Northridge agent, Wendy Dern, has been coordinating a candy collection for an organization called “For The Troops”, a 100% volunteer non-profit group that sends “We Care” packages to our troops over seas, year round. Over 2000 packages are sent every month, and contain basic personal essentials, playing cards, magazines, letters from volunteers, and so much more. Every box is packed, then filled with candy, not just as a fun treat, but to insure there is no movement in the package.

In previous years, Wendy has collected about 1000 lbs. of candy. As they increase the number of packages sent every month, the amount of candy needed increases too. According to Wendy, this year they ran out of candy in April!  Therefore, this year she has set out to increase her collection goal to at least 2000 lbs. of candy!

Wendy will be collecting candy from October 18 – November 9.

If you would like to participate by donating candy, (leftover Halloween candy, candy purchased from post Halloween sales, excessive candy from your kids trick or treating, etc), please call, text, or email Wendy to make arrangements so that she can get your donation. Thanks for your support!!!

Rodeo Realty collect donations to help those affected by Harvey

The Houston Help for Harvey collection drive, put together by Rodeo Realty’s Todd Jones and his friend Greg Zekowski, was a success!

The collection ended Tuesday and the donations were amazing!

All donations collected at the Rodeo Realty Studio City office were loaded onto a truck, which was donated by Galpin Studio Rentals.

The truck headed to Operation Gratitude in Calabasas, a non-profit, volunteer-based organization, who annually distributes 250,000+ care packages to U.S. service members and are currently helping those who were affected by Harvey.

Thanks to Rodeo Realty’s support as well as the support of many individuals, groups, and companies, Operation Gratitude was able to send out their first truckload of 10 pallets on Thursday and have scheduled another 39 pallets to ship next Tuesday morning!

“I was truly amazed at how many Rodeo Agents and neighbors contributed to the cause,” said Todd Jones. “I hope that the good folks that suffered from Harvey find some relief with the donations.”

Rodeo Realty thanks everyone who took part in helping and putting together the collection drive. Thanks to those who donated!

Rodeo Realty's Northridge agent Wendy Dern collects 1,000+ pounds of candy to donate to 'For Our Troops'

wendydern-forourtroops

Rodeo Realty’s Northridge agent Wendy Dern is collecting candy to donate to “For the Troops”. The non-profit organization is dedicated to providing members of the American military with “We Care” packages containing basic necessities, goodies, games and—most of all—a show of support.

For more than 10 years, the Realtor has been organizing candy collections to make sure “For The Troops” has an endless supply of candy on hand, and doesn’t fall short for even one box. Wendy enlists participation from local schools, including Cleveland Charter High School, Nobel Middle School, and Topeka Drive and Gridley Elementary Schools. Through community outreach, she has also garnered support from community members in her farm and local businesses. Striving to increase her success every year, Wendy’s collection now surpasses 1000 pounds of candy!

Thanks to Syd Leibovitch, Rodeo Realty is also taking part in helping Dern with her collection and have made a monetary donation to help “For The Troops”.

Dern will be collecting candy through the weekend and plans on delivering the donations next week.

About For The Troops:

The organization has substantially grown in volunteers and donors, and has distributed more than 165,000 packages.  They ship year-round to American troops who risk their lives overseas every day—far away from the comforts of home.  Each care package is lovingly filled with a variety of items including hygiene products, dvd’s, games and puzzlebooks, magazines, comics, stationary, and more.  Candy is used as box filler, instead of packing materials, as an added treat in every box.
