Eufy’s Newest Security Bundle Offers Multi-Camera Person Tracking

Anker’s smart home brand, Eufy, is introducing a range of new security cameras. Likewise, this includes the SoloCam battery-powered outdoor camera, Floodlight Cam E340, Video Doorbell E340, and Indoor Cam S350. These cameras feature dual lenses, combining wide-angle and telephoto lenses to enhance face and license plate recognition. The standout feature is cross-camera tracking and video splicing. Of course, which allows each camera to pick up motion and follow it, creating one combined video for all connected cameras. This tracking technology, adapted from the banking and traffic industries, is supported by Eufy’s HomeBase 3 hub. This feature, employs on-device AI to identify individuals across connected cameras, splice videos together, and send a single notification and video clip. Additionally, the HomeBase 3 offers AI-powered smart alerts, including facial recognition, person, pet, and vehicle detection. In addition, it comes with a 1TB hard drive for locally stored recordings accessible without a subscription.

SpaceX Secures First Space Force Contract for Starshield Satellite Network Aimed at Government Services

SpaceX has secured its inaugural contract with the U.S. Space Force to deliver satellite communications via the Starshield network, designed for government use. The one-year contract, awarded on September 1st and confirmed by Air Force spokesperson Ann Stefanek, has a ceiling of $70 million, with $15 million obligated by the end of September. SpaceX will provide comprehensive Starshield services through its existing Starlink satellites, supporting 54 mission partners across various branches of the military. Tired of road trips that involve driving? Take a train trip from LA! While train travel may seem old school, it still remains one of the best ways to take in the California coast. Luckily for you, Union Station is ideally located downtown, making it the perfect gilded-age stop along your local travels. Read below for our list of the best train trips from LA via Amtrak to get all aboard for some fun!

San Diego

In San Diego, there is something for everyone to enjoy. From festivals to concerts and more, it’s ideal for a train trip from LA. Party in the Gaslamp Quarter, cruise the harbor or visit the world-famous San Diego Zoo. After enjoying your scenic train route, explore Balboa Park, experience the USS Midway Museum, and shop at Seaport Village.

San Luis Obispo

Great for a family getaway or wine trip, San Luis Obispo is perfect for a train trip. Being that it’s 5.5 hours away from L.A. Downtown, you may want to start your day early or stay overnight. Once in town, check out a number of museums like the children’s museum, railroad museum, and historic mission. For adults, there are many wineries in the area and great hikes at Valencia Peak and Bishop Peak (both have amazing views).

Santa Barbara

About 3 hours away from Los Angeles on the train, Santa Barbara is a beautiful one-night getaway. There is a zoo, harbor, wharf, bike path, coastal park, and historic mission to explore. Plus, wine is a top attraction that adults can enjoy locally or on a day trip.

Paso Robles

For a great train trip and wine vacation, Paso Robles is a fantastic option. There are some activities for families, but overall, this destination is best for an adult trip. Visiting wineries is the top thing to do, with more than 200 to choose from. Due to the 6.5-hour train commute and one daily Coast Starlight train, you’ll need to stay overnight for at least one night.

San Jose

Looking for an urban getaway? San Jose is another great train trip. Taking 10 to 11 hours away on the Coast Starlight, it’s definitely meant for an overnight stay. Head to the SAP Center for concerts and NHL hockey games. For other top attractions, check out the Municipal Rose Garden, Santana Row commercial district, Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum, and Happy Hollow Park and Zoo.

Patreon Introduces Chat Functionality Similar to Discord for Creators and Their Audience

Starting today, Patreon offers its creators a new feature: in-app group chats. Universal Music Group Introduces Royalty Model Favoring Top Artists

Universal Music Group (UMG) has unveiled a new streaming agreement with French music service Deezer, designed to direct higher payouts towards professional artists. Instead of the current system, where payments are divided based on total listens irrespective of the track or artist, popular songs will now earn more, with a single listen equating to two. To benefit from this 10% payout increase, artists need at least 1,000 streams monthly from a minimum of 500 distinct users. Deezer’s CEO, Jeronimo Folgueira, labeled this overhaul as the “most ambitious change” in music streaming economics, emphasizing the distinct value of professionally produced content over ambient noise. Deezer plans to introduce a new in-house sound library and won’t collect royalties from these tracks.

FAA Grants UPS Drones Approval for Extended-Range Deliveries

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted UPS drones permission to fly beyond the operator’s line of sight, paving the way for broader drone delivery operations. UPS’s drone delivery arm, UPS Flight Forward, can now use Matternet M2 drones to deliver packages without ground spotters watching the route. Dictionary.com Expands Vocabulary with AI-Related Terms

Dictionary.com has incorporated numerous AI-related terms, including “generative AI,” “GPT,” and “LLM.” Along with these additions, the platform also redefined the term “hallucinate” in the context of generative AI. In their fall 2023 update, they introduced 566 new entries and revised 348 definitions, reflecting the evolving nature of the English language.
