With all the hustle and bustle of our weekday routine we bring you a curated list of the weekends top activities happening throughout the city of stars.

The time has finally come. You’ve picked up your costumes and allotted yourself at least a handful of candy this weekend. Halloween may fall on a Wednesday but the main events are just a round the corner. So don’t stay inside and cue on the slasher films, you’ve had all month for that. It’s time to throw on your Dracula cape and paint the town red. Read below for our round up events happening this weekend!

Pageant of the Monsters

Location: 650 Laguna Canyon Rd., Laguna Beach

Patrons of Pageant of the Master’s will know this live performance as artwork coming to life. Pageant of the Monsters is the ghoulish re-enactment of notable tableaus that awakens from their slumber every 5 years. This year’s theme is “Raiders of the Lost Art”. The fest includes a haunted house, Halloween arts and craft, and activities for children. The haunted house is suitable for even the tiniest of terrors, sans gore and recommended for children 5 and older. Food and non-alcoholic berates will be available for purchase.

KCRW Masquerade Ball

Location: Downtown LA Historic Core

While this isn’t quite the traditional masquerade, one can expect all the treats and tricks customary with an extravagant night on the town At the KCRW annual Masquerade Ball patrons will be priledged to enjoy the soiree at a new location in DTLA. From themed rooms to various DJ sets and costumes galore, what more can you ask for in the spirit of Hallows Eve.

The Fanged Fete

Location: Downtown L.A. at The Ace Hotel

If you haven’t gotten your fill at the masked ball above, there are plenty of parties to go around in DTLA. The Fanged Fete at The Ace Hotel’s lavish theatre warrants you arrive in your best fangs and vampiric couture(or just vampire-ish clothes). This swanky event will feature Restless Nites DJs, drinks and “dark arts”. Be advised to wake from your crypt early if you’d like to catch the screening of the 1932 surrealist horror film Vampyr alongside a reimagined live score courtesy of the LA opera before the festivities commence.

Haunted Hotel at Viceroy Santa Monica

Spend your ghoulish activities on the westside at the Viceroy Santa Monica’s annual soiree. Over 1,000 guests descend upon the “haunted” hotel(Three Rule has been hired to deck out the entire property from the lobby to the drinks). Wander between to realms..sorry dance floors and lay your stake at a chance to win one of the amazing prizes being served out to the best costumes around(well at the party that is). That being said, costumes are required so you can’t just go as “a mouse..Duh” open to all 21 and over.

Location: The Federal, North Hollywood

The Valley needs its go-to Halloween bash to which is what you’ll find at the Federal this year with a promise of performances on its main stage every half hour. Patrons can expect costume contest, eerie cocktails and an evening of ghastly fun. Bonus: This years theme is Pirates of The Caribbean. Perfect chance for you to bust out that Johnny Depp impression you’ve been “working on”.

A Night of the Macabre with Poe and Gorey

Drama After Dark at The Huntington Library

Location: The Huntington Library, Pasadena

If your less for the partying and more for the ghoulish tales, then don’t miss this frightening telling of the famed poets held at the Huntington Library. Thrill to the tales of Edgar Allan Poe and Edward Gorey in an evening of chilling drama presented by the actors of the Guild of St. George. Haunting works will be enacted throughout the moonlit grounds, including “The Pit and the Pendulum,” “The Tell-Tale Heart,” “The Gashlycrumb Tinies,” and more. Ages 10 to adult. (May be too intense for younger children.)

Dia de los Muertos at Hollywood Forever

Location: Hollywood Forever Cemetary

Billed at the largest Day of the Dead celebration in California, Hollywood Forever Cemetery’s event is a Halloween must. The grounds of the cemetery are covered with art exhibitions, dance rituals, musical performances, and children’s arts and crafts spread throughout. While you enjoy the bounty of food vendors, peruse through the altars created for the departed by community artists. Patrons can also take part in the calico(skeleton) costume contest if they so please. This years theme, Coatlicue “Mother of Gods”, honors the Aztec goddess mother of the moon, sun and stars. Pumpkin Festival

Location: Pasadena

Bring the whole family and explore the Pasadena Pumpkin Patch and Costume Parade. This fun event includes a petting zoo, pony rides, bounce castles, carnival games and seasonal crafts with all proceeds benefitting the Kidspace Children’s Museum. Halloween & Mourning Tours

Location: Heritage Square Museum, NE DTLA

You probably spent the majority of the weekend getting glitter spray out of your hair. If thats the case spend Sunday with educational frights instead of fruit cocktails at Heritage Square Museum’s annual Halloween celebration. This Victorian era event takes you through a true horror. Life before iPhones. Enjoy period games, 19th century harvest crafts and spooky stories that even the kid swill enjoy.

New to the lunch scene is Joss Bites, a deep space worthy eatery in beverly hills serving pan-asian cuisine. While the design is futuristic the meal options are fairly straight forward and of course delicious. Chose between steamed buns with duck confit or pork Jia Jiang mein. Guerrilla Tacos

Location: Arts District

Dishing out some of the cities most inventive tacos, is Guerrilla Tacos in the heart of the Arts District. While this area of downtown is known for being a cuisine hotspot, Guerrilla brings a true homage to Chicano-American comfort food with Chef Wes Avila at the helm. The Sweet Potato Taco is a perfect combination of sweet and spicy notes drizzled in Almond Chile and topped with Feta, Fried Corn and Scallions. Opting for something from the sea? Entre Nous

Location: Pasadena

Entre Nous debuts with Traditional Southern French are in Pasadena. The new bistro is helmed by French chefs Mathias Wakrat and Jean-Christophe Febbrairi who bring their French Riviera expertise to Old Town. Expect specialities like their Marseille Bouillabaisse to be your new lunchtime go to if your not full off of the sumptuous Duck Confit. If your midday meal permits, the international wine experience is worth at least a glass from regions in New Zealand all the way to Saint-Tropez.

“Whats for Dinner?”

Conservatory

Location: West Hollywood

WEHO welcomes Conservatory to it’s sprawling landscape of trendy eateries. The restaurant stands at the landmark spot of former Irv’s Burgers stand on historic Route 66 and dishes out a bounty of flavor. Choose to start off with the Grilled Lamb Kafka and sumac Tzatziki or a light pairing of the Seared Ahi Crudo drenched in sesame ginger vinaigrette. Move onto entrees like their simmering Roasted Cauliflower steak in Golden Raisin Chutney. Or if your feeling “Fall-ish”, the Fall Squash Burrata in a pumpkin seed pesto does not disappoint. Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Location: Skirball Cultural Center

Regardless of what side of the aisle your on, we can all mostly agree that RBG(Ruth Bader Ginsburg if your not for the slang) is a political Icon. And as such many works have been created in her likeness. Starting this Friday through Nov. 18th, your invited to explore an original exhibition based on the book of the same title while viewing a range of contemporary art, archives, and more at the Skirball Cultural Center. Dear Evan Hansen

Location: Ahmanson Theatre, DTLA

The Broadway show everyone’s been talking about finally debuts in L.A. at the Ahmanson Theatre! In this captivating original musical, high school student Evan Hansen is thrust into social relevance after a classmate’s suicide. Benj Pasek and Justin all’s score combine well-crafted lyrics and an exciting pop sound, and Steven Levenson’s book gives all the characters shaded motives.

“Photo Ark”

Location: Annenberg Space for Photography, Century City

Seasoned photographer and author Joel Sartore has contributed to National Geographic magazine for over two decades. Now, Angelenos will have a chance to see a glimpse of his stunning photos of some of the world’s most threatened species with this selection of 100 large-format prints. Sartore’s Photo Ark project has brought him to over 40 countries to capture portraits of 8,000 species in his quest to catalog all of the world’s animals before they disappear. LA CANCER CHALLENGE 5K WALK/RUN

October 21, 2018 marks the 21st Annual LA Cancer Challenge 5K Walk/Run, the signature fundraising event of the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research. Held on the beautiful campus of UCLA where much of the foundation’s research is conducted, So Cal’s best Halloween-themed fitness event includes a Fit Family Expo with food & beverage booths, activity tents, a stage with a huge video screen, a Candyland Kids Zone and more. The Beverly Hills Art Show

On the final day of the semi-annual BH Art Show, enjoy 4 block of art by over 245 artists from around the nation. Lucky Boy

The crispy diner-style hashbrowns, loads of melty cheddar, eggs, and bacon make the breakfast burrito at Lucky Boy the absolute platonic ideal. If you only eat one breakfast burrito for the rest of your life, it should be this one.

The Village Bakery

The Village Bakery and Cafe is a neighborhood place, located in a real neighborhood: Atwater Village in Los Angeles. All of of their food is prepared right in their kitchen every day from fresh and natural ingredients, including farmer’s market fruits and vegetables. Our go to is the Atwater Special–Grilled polenta cake topped with parmesan cheese, scrambled eggs, spinach, tomatoes and crumbled bacon. Served on a parmesan crisp plate. Morning Perfection!

Sushi Note

The restaurant is a collaboration between some of LA’s best names in wine and sushi, with an extensive wine selection and food from celebrated chef Kiminobu Saito. Gibbs’ sushi and wine approach is a casual one, as he wants diners to pair anything their hearts desire, even if it’s a delicate piece of snapper with a bold Napa red. Chef Saito has also brought on Takeshi Matsuzaki from Tama Sushi as his second in sliced-fish command.

Milk Bar

Not exactly lunch but we all need an afternoon pick me up from time to time. Milk Bar is an award-winning bakery led by chef and owner Christina Tosi. They believe in a world of endless possibilities, and create playfully nostalgic desserts that celebrate innovation and quality. Indulge in the seasonal favorite Pumpkin Dulce De Leche- a sweetness overload of vanilla spice cake, milk crumbs, roasted pumpkin ganache, dulce de leche, and roasted pepitas. Roberta’s

Greater Los Angeles’s pizza moment continues with Roberta’s at the Platform project in Culver City. The famed Brooklyn pizza joint that counts Beyonce and Jay-Z as fans fired out their popular East Coast menu. West Coast Roberta’s carries much the same menu as the original, with a lean on blistered pizzas as well as wood-fired vegetables, pasta, and cured meat. There’s room for lots of funky wines as well, and a full bar for cocktails to boot.

The long-awaited restaurant from James Beard Award-winning chef Jessica Largey is now open in Los Angeles’ Arts District. The multifaceted space features a dining room serving relaxed, produce-driven California fare, with a classic, elevated wine list by Beverage Director Jordan Egan (NoMad), and craft cocktails from Bar Director Iain McPherson (Edinburgh’s Panda and Sons).

Ronan

This fresh addition to Melrose, called Ronan, is a newcomer project from Daniel Cutler (Sotto and Alimento) and his wife, Caitlin, whose resume includes experience at popular LA spots Hatchet Hall and Huckleberry, Eater Los Angeles reports. On the menu, expect to see shareable dishes such as chicken liver pate; pollen-dusted pork chops; and grilled snapper with fermented green tomato and roasted fennel. Craving pizza? Come try wood-fired specialties like the White Dynamite with ricotta, basil, garlic and Calabrian chili oil; or the Pixxa — a pie topped with mole rosso, squash blossom, Jersey ricotta and coriander flower. Asanebo

If you want to understand Asanebo, the sleek Japanese restaurant at the heart of Studio City’s sushi bar strip, you could do worse than to look at the tiny dish of chawanmushi there, the inevitable beginning to one of the long, multi-coursed omakase meals that are the restaurant’s reason for being. All Asanebo asks from you is an open mind, plus rather a lot of money. In exchange, you spend an hour or so in an elevated state of being.

American Contemporary Ballet Presents Halloween Hellraiser

The American American Contemporary Ballet invites you to their Halloween “Hellraiser” this weekend. This one night only event includes the world premiere of Burlesque and the opening night of Inferno. You will meet the composer Charles Wuorinen (one of the most eminent in the world), hear from ACB’s Artistic Director Lincoln Jones about his vision for the future of ballet, and have an opportunity to support one of the most cutting-edge performing arts companies working today. Music @ Lacma

Spend your evening beneath the stars and amongst the art of the Los Angeles Contemporary Museum. The LACMA Jazz series is free to the public and takes place in the museum’s Smidt Welcome Plaza. “It’s just a little Hocus Pocus”

Don’t miss this weekends showing of the cult classic family favorite(so many adjectives!) Halloween film Hocus Pocus. The event is being hosted by San Fernando Valley’s Halloween Drive-In Night where patrons cruise in for a truly authentic retro-style movie experience. For a weekend of laughs and fun performances, join Disoriented Comedy and the JACCC for their 4th annual comedy festival. Pop in for afternoon humor or enjoy the evening line up at this 3-day fest. Pumpkin Nights Pomona

Location: 1101 W. McKinley Avenue, Pomona

Take part in this year’s Pumpkin Nights, an interactive experience inviting guests to explore eight different eight themed pumpkin-lands crafted with over 3,000 pumpkins! Demonstrations by professional pumpkin artists, pumpkin fire shows, pumpkin magic shows, and plenty of other pumpkin-themed activities and offerings will take place throughout the special 23 day event. The WB’s famed backlot studio tour goes for full frights as they transform into haunting square. Brave through a maze inspired by The Conjuring or attempt to tour Freddy vs. Jason’s Camp Crystal Lake and Batman’s Arkham Asylum. Other highlights include horror makeup demos, ephemera from Tim Burton films, and a special screening of select scenes from 1973’s The Exorcist. If your feeling parched, True Blood’s Fangtasia will be serving for all the visiting vamps. And if you happened to miss last years scariest haunted attraction. the IT haunted house returns as a pop-up for the fest.

Having likely made your dinner hot spot list, be advised that Republique is serving a breakfast worth taking note. Republique is said to be the former home of Golden Era Comedian Charlie Chaplin. Brimming with rustic chicness and delectable eats, the french eatery superbly succeeds. From their outstanding example of French toast to poached egg-topped kimchi fried rice, whats not to j’adore.

Breakfast by Salt’s Cure paints a story of unsupervised adolescent cooking turned career solidified by the success of its Chef and star Chris Phelps. Chef Phelps opened Breakfast as an homage to his already famous Griddle Cakes, a family recipe that serves as the highlight of the menu. Meant to offer diners the simplicity of building their own breakfast, nothing could be more perfect to start your day.
