New AI-Powered DJ on Spotify Will Customize Your Playlist
Spotify has announced a new AI-powered feature called “AI DJ”. The new feature creates and comments on a personalized playlist. In addition, the”AI DJ in your pocket” selects what to play based on your music taste. The playlist is infinite, but users can switch genres or artists by pressing the on-screen DJ button. The AI-generated voice of the DJ is powered by voice tech from Sonantic AI, a company purchased by Spotify last year, and the words are generated by a mix of sources, including “music experts, culture experts, data curators [and] scriptwriters” and OpenAI’s generative AI technology. The order in which users receive the commentary will be unique to each user’s listening habits. The feature is in beta, and Spotify plans to evolve the process as they go.
