Check out some covid-friendly things to do this weekend with your family or quarantine pod!
Desert X
The desert-spanning biennial is back, with premieres of site-specific works from a slate of 13 artists. For its third iteration, Desert X will once again stage outdoor installations across 40 miles of the Coachella Valley from March 12 to May 16. Admission is free and there’s an emphasis on visitor safety (with the exhibitions all being outdoors, that seems like a natural fit). Check out our preview of all of the installations.
Street Food Cinema
Outdoor movie season isn’t canceled—it’s just headed to the drive-in. Seasonal fave Street Food Cinema is making some social-distancing–friendly tweaks to its schedule and parking itself at a few locations for drive-in movie screenings. There are some important rules you’ll need to follow: Guests must remain in their vehicles (except for when going to the restrooms or food trucks) and wear masks when interacting with staff. Cars must park one space apart from each other. And though outside food and beverages are permitted, dogs are not.
Comedy Store Drive-In
Who knows when we’ll again be able to see a dozen headliners in the Main Room or an intimate roast in the Original Room, but in the meantime the Comedy Store taking a weekend trip a few miles east for a weekend of drive-in shows at the Rose Bowl. Between March 26 and 27, the Sunset Strip comedy club will curate three shows in the Pasadena stadium’s parking lot with a lineup that includes Bill Burr, David Spade, Whitney Cummings, Jeff Ross, Iliza Shlesinger, Fortune Feimster, Donnell Rawlings and more.
