Sherman Oaks agents give back with Thanksgiving food drive

Brandon Kramer, Ryan Trefry, Kathy Gardner, Brian Gardner, and Jim Wagner decided to hold another food drive this year.

 
“It is our favorite time of year to give back to the less fortunate,” said Trefry.

Through their 5th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, the Sherman Oaks’ agents gathered more than 2,800 pounds of food! Each agent collected from their farming areas which included, Lake Balboa, Sherman Oaks, and Winnetka. All goods went to the Valley Food Bank in Pacoima.


 
“Thank you and your team for all your extra efforts to help families in need –we are thankful for you,” said Director of the Valley Food Bank, William Hernandez.

UCLA Football VS. Stanford

UCLA Football will wrap up the 2018 season by playing host to the Stanford Cardinal this Saturday, November 24, at the Rose Bowl Stadium with a 12:00 p.m. kickoff. In appreciation of their selfless service and efforts to keep our community safe, UCLA Athletics is proud to offer four complimentary tickets to Saturday’s game to all first responders. This offer can be redeemed at the Rose Bowl Stadium Box Office on Saturday by showing any valid first responder identification.

Also, the annual Hollywood Christmas Parade is returning this month! The parade, which will be held November 25, will feature many performers including The Village People, Ruben Studdard, Tom Dixon, and many more! A great event to add to your things to do list! Also, attendees will enjoy a night filled with marching band shows, larger-than-life balloon figures, and even an appearance from Santa. Rodeo Realty Giving Back To The Homeless

Throughout the year, Rodeo Realty takes part in giving back and helping many organizations.

For example, in November, Rodeo Realty is helping the homeless. This year, the company is giving back by helping The People Concern. Many Rodeo Realty agents are volunteering and preparing meals to feed the homeless. The People Concern helps families, as well as many others who have nowhere else to turn.

In addition to that, Rodeo Realty is sponsoring The Great Thanksgiving Banquet. The Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission puts this annual event together. Homeless individuals will be bused to the Help Center in the Valley where they will enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving meal. Rodeo Realty agents are giving back by volunteering their time to feed the less fortunate.

Pecan Pie Martini

INGREDIENTS
  • 6 oz. Rumchata
  • creme de cocoa
  • bourbon
  • Ice
FOR GARNISH
  • 3 tbsp. caramel, microwaved until pourable
  • 1/4 c. toasted chopped pecans
  • Cool whip, for garnish
  • whole pecans, for garnish
  • Sprinkle of cinnamon, for garnish
DIRECTIONS
  1. Place caramel and toasted chopped pecans on separate small shallow plates. Dip the rim of each glass first into caramel and then into chopped pecans to coat.
  2. Combine Rumchata, creme de cocoa, and bourbon in a large cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake until cold, 30 seconds. Pour into martini glasses and top with a dollop of whipped cream, a whole pecan, and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Apple Cider Mimosas

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 c. apple cider
  • (750-ml.) bottle bubbly
DIRECTIONS
  1. On a small plate, combine sugar and cinnamon. Dip champagne flutes in water to wet the rims, then dip in cinnamon sugar mixture.
  2. Fill champagne flutes 1/4 full with apple cider, then top off with champagne.

Cranberry Mules

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 oz. cranberry juice
  • 2 oz. vodka
  • 1/4 c. lime juice, plus extra for garnish
  • 3 oz. ginger beer
  • Handful fresh or frozen cranberries
DIRECTIONS
  1. Combine cranberry juice, vodka and lime in a glass filled with ice. Top with ginger beer, whole cranberries and garnish with a lime wedge.

Caramel Apple Spritzers

Caramel Apple Spritzer
INGREDIENTS
  • apples
  • Lemon wedges (to prevent apples from browning)
  • 1/2 c. Caramel
  • 1/4 c. cinnamon-sugar
  • 750-ml bottle moscato, chilled
  • 1 c. green apple vodka, chilled
  • 1 c. Sprite, chilled
DIRECTIONS
  1. Make apple cups: Slice off the top of each apple. Use an apple corer to remove the inside of the apple until you’re about 1/2″ from the bottom of the apple. Squeeze lemon juice inside the apple cups to prevent apples from browning.
  2. Dip the rims of the apple cups in caramel then coat in cinnamon-sugar.
  3. Make spritzer: In a large pitcher, combine moscato, green apple vodka and Sprite and stir. Pour spritzer into apple cups and serve immediately.

Pumpkin Spice Oreo Spiked Milkshake

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 1/2 oz. vodka
  • pumpkin spice Oreos, plus more for garnish
  • scoops of vanilla ice cream
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • Salted caramel, for drizzling
DIRECTIONS
  1. Place vodka, pumpkin spice Oreos, vanilla ice cream, and milk in a blender.
  2. Pour mixture into serving glass and drizzle with salted caramel sauce.

Maple Bourbon Cocktail

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 ounces bourbon (I used Makers 46)
  • 1 ounce fresh squeezed orange juice
  • 1/2 ounce pure maple syrup
  • 1-2 dashes of angostura bitters
  • orange peel + maraschino cherry for garnish
DIRECTIONS

Add ingredients to an ice filled cocktail shaker and shake until chilled. Strain into ice filled glass. Garnish with orange peel and cherry. Serve and enjoy!

Apple, Pumpkin Beer Cocktails

Apple Pumpkin Beer
Ingredients
  • 8 ounces good-quality bourbon
  • 9 ounces apple cider
  • 2 1/2 ounces lemon juice
  • 12 ounces pumpkin ale
  • ice
  • Cinnamon sticks and cranberries for garnish
Directions
  1. In a cocktail shaker, shake together the bourbon, apple cider and lemon juice. Pour into 4 glasses filled with ice.
  2. Pour the beer evenly into each glass.
  3. Garnish with cinnamon sticks and cranberries. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Pear and Thyme Fizz

Pear and Thyme Fizz
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups good-quality apple juice
  • 1 ripe but firm pear, very thinly sliced
  • 12 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 1/4 cup orange-flavored liqueur (I like grand marnier)
  • 1 bottle sparkling wine (champagne, prosecco, cava, etc.)
Directions

1. In a pitcher, combine apple juice, pears, thyme and liqueur. Stir together, then refrigerate for 2 – 4 hours to allow the pears and thyme to infuse the juice with flavor.

2. Divide between 6 champagne flutes, discarding thyme, then fill remainder of each glass with champagne. Garnish each glass with a sprig of fresh thyme. Bottoms up!

Cava and Pomegranate Cocktail

  1. Fill 12 flutes with cava.
  2. Add 1 teaspoon of the pomegranate juice to each flute
  3. garnish with pomegranate seeds and serve.

Hard Cider Sangria

  1. In a pitcher, combine the apples with the orange, apple juice, lemon juice and brandy.
  2. Just before serving, add the hard cider(Angry Orchard, Stella Artois, etc..).

This year’s menu is four courses of autumn-appropriate dishes like butternut squash bisque with nutmeg creme fraiche; spiced chickpea cake with cranberry cabernet sauce, and mashed potatoes with porcini gravy. Stimulate your dessert senses with delights like their pumpkin mousse verrine. Hours for the evening are noon-5pm with the menu priced at $75 pp.

Chef Curtis Stone’s Hollywood outpost-Gwen already amazes with decadent classic fare every day of the week and the Thanksgiving Menu holds to that tradition. Dishes like the white onion veloute pair perfectly with traditional heritage turkey and his green bean casserole. Finish off the evening with a selection of perfectly prepared pies and your absolutely acceptable 4th glass of wine. This festive fete is offered 2-6pm at $75 pp.

While the famed West Hollywood eatery dishes out the best southern Italian fare in the L.A. area, their thanksgiving feast is every bit as traditional as you would hope and savor over. Indulge on porcini corn bread stuffing, squash tortellini and truffle mashed potatoes, as well as a selection of seasonal sweets including apple-pecan crostata. Thanksgiving with an Italian touch is served at $95 pp from noon-10pm.

Finish with pumpkin mousse or an apple crumble to really get into the fall spirit. Dinner is served 2-8pm, with a $70 per three-course meal, $90 per four-course meal; and $29 per child 10 and under.

Take Turkey to the beach at Playa Provisions, which is offering a downright steal of a meal: just $38 to feast on roast turkey or honey mustard ham, plus a variety of sides, including chicory salad, roasted acorn squash and cranberry sauce. Finish with a selection of seasonal desserts including but not limited to pumpkin pie and cran-apple pie. This is a highly kid-friendly option, but if you’re looking for something a bit more adult, round the corner to Playa Provisions’ whiskey bar, Grain, which will be offering à la carte holiday specials in liquid form. Satisfy your turkey cravings from3-8pm at $38 per adult, $20 per child.
